I always wanted to be one of those people who were so lucky to wake up to an incubator with chirping fuzzybutts in it...That was this morning when two late chicks in the Brinsea made their entrance on day 22.  (Day 23 starts this eve)  So, I guess the key to that is to set your eggs before bedtime.  There are four little bulldozers running roughshot in the little brinsea mini right now!  Which btw totally ran out of water yesterday. SO, I remembered my mom giving me steam baths...so, I made a tent and gave them 3 steam baths being careful to monitor the effect on the heat in there...no issues. i saw some condensation on the sides so I know it must have been somewhat effective!

I still have one stuck in it's shell. It has been pipped for two days with it's beak out. Agonizing to just watch and not be able to open the lid. 

Apparently, I have some leg issues with a couple of the silkies...so, they are going to need something done about them. But, since I have not even had a cup of tea yet I will hold off on that until I am fully awake.  I just pray I have another orpington hatch because that little chick is rather large compared to the silkies...

yay! I thought that's what would happen for me since I set my eggs at 1130pm but I only had a couple hatch overnight. Lots of pips overnight but mostly all my action happened during the day.

Maybe the one that's taking forever will surprise you and make it out. I had one pip sometime on Friday and didn't hatch until about 630am on Sunday morning. I thought for sure I had lost that one so I was pleasantly surprised to wake up to a very wet chick that morning. I know it was a black chick but having 6 of them I can't even tell that one from the others now so having taken so long to hatch didn't affect it any.

Good luck with the rest of your hatch and with your next few hatches.

Here's the Brinsea crew. I busted them out and free'd the one who had its beak through the shell for 48 hours. He's back in the incubator as he's weary from the struggle...

Well, off to class.

they are Sooo cute. Glad you were able to help the one that was struggling! Keep the pics coming!

I honestly have no idea. The eggs were a backyard mix. I'm told the dad may be a wheaton ameraucana or a silkie. I can't wait till it feathers out and we may be able to tell more of what it is. It does look kinda like an owl, I didn't think about that. :)
