January 2021 Hatch-A-Long

Got another progress candling in. Developing bantam is looking great. Two brown eggs still look like they're progressing. Unfortunately I have doubts about whether the third brown egg is still good. Just need the still-viable ones to make it through another 11 and a half days (and hatching). 🤞

May the odds be ever in your favor.

It's happening! I came home from work and found that two of my Dutch Bantams hatched! Three more have external pips and a fourth is rocking like mad!

After my terrible hatches in December I'm so happy that this one is doing so much better :wee
Fantastic news! Congratulations.

You should gets some pics. I bet they're adorable.

One TJ egg dodged a bullet this evening. My egg-loving toddler got into the bathroom and helped herself into the incubator. I heard the sound of the lid coming off and jumped up. I caught her running full steam down the hall happily screaming "EGG!" at the top of her lungs with a TJ clutched fiercely in her hand. I told her "What a beautiful egg! Can I see it?" Fortunately when she saw me coming she chose to share her prize. Not chuck it on the ground. All good now. Probably need to move the incubator to somewhere safer. It's the warmest room in the house so I was playing the odds (that she wouldn't get into them). Obviously a better plan is needed.
