January Hatch-a-long 2018

Odd situation here and I’d like some advice. I have a week old chick that has an eye problem. I’m not sure if it was there from hatch or if it is an injury/illness. I though this baby had been pecked in the eyeball and it was going shut from watering but now I’m 3 or 4 days into wiping it a couple times a day and it isn’t gooey but still watering a ton where if will be closed by the end of the day. I’ve been using warm compress and eye rinse. NO other symptoms of illness and seems happy (unless I’m messing with her). Can a chick incubated hatch with an infection in its eye or am I most likely dealing with an injury or incubation issue?

I have had chicks that get that membrane stuck on their eye before, then it gets hard, but water can usually flush it, just keep up the eye drops, natural ones.

I did have to help the latest chick out, she was tangled in her membrane, and had a strand of it between her beak. Then her butt was just a tiny tad bloody, no belly button hanging though, I helped her out with the membrane, and dabbed her butt with flour. I have a little list for hatching....I don't like to help but this one need it and I was ready
*dull ended crab fork-for shells
*fingernail scissors- would have been handy for cutting the bloodless but stuck membrane
*flour for dabbing bloody bits, (you are supposed to stop if there is blood, but you should also stop the blood)
*reading glasses- (I have started in on this egg then had to find reading glasses)

1. blue cochin/LO
2. ayam cemani

4. Bantam blue cochin (dif from above)/LO

Personally I'd get some Terramycin ointment from a farm store. It an ointment so it won't dry out like drops and will continue to provide lubrication. Just something else for you to consider.
