January Hatch-a-long 2018

They should be good in the bator for a couple days if you can't move them. I usually gave mine around 8-12 hrs in the bator to get mostly fluffed before moving.
ok good, I left them in the incubator as one was dry and one was not. I will move them over when I get home. I figured at least I know they are warm and safe in there and they would be together.

Two chicks hatch last night. :jumpy I’ll get pictures soon. How long can they be in the incubator. I have to go to work and not sure if I should move them now or ok all day in bator. One hatched last night around 9 and one hatch I believe about 2am as that’s when I heard aloud chirp.

Wow, I knew this would be a bad hatch, but not this bad. 3 of 7 that went into lock down. The ones that made it, are the ones with the most decent air sacs...one that had a high air cell did pip....at the wrong end. Went ahead and tried assisting, but, I could tell it wouldn't make it. The others that didn't make it were also stuck in the wrong end, head at the pointy end. They just can't turn with real high air cells. :( So, 2 blacks, and 1 dark blue. It is fun to hear babies in my house again. :)

That's very sad. To lose them when they've come this far. Someone on BYC told me " incubating is not for the faint of heart". Boy is that true.

Don't feel bad. I'm going on 48 hours since my first pip and I've still just had the three hatch. I'm not hopeful for the rest. Those wonky air cells can be a huge issue. Shipping and handling also played a part in my hatch too, I suspect. I'll try the float test today to see if any are alive in the shell.
