Just candled my eggs on day 14 , I said I was not going to, but what the heck, I didn't have to pull any shipped eggs, my own eggs that were fertilized by my young LO roosters have six developing also on day 14. I did have to pull 7 of my own eggs from the batch due on the 4th though. Clears. of that batch, 5 are still developing and one is a ?. Good news is 2 of my black copper maran/LO eggs are developing!(Feb. 4)

That's very sad. To lose them when they've come this far. Someone on BYC told me " incubating is not for the faint of heart". Boy is that true.
It's true, we have our good, and then the bad, especially with those shipped eggs. Plus, these are the ones that sat a day and a half at a sorting facility. We never know how they will be handled. I've got some pretty interesting photos of shipped eggs, where most of the eggs are smashed. Yuck, what a mess when that happens. Well, hoping these others are doing better. They made it here in 2 days. I haven't candled yet. Probably will tonight.

Oh when I candled one of my shipped eggs, one of the eggs had super thick veins, (I have hatched and candled many an egg so these veins were mentionable.) Everyone else had nice normal veins. I didn't mark the air cells this time, but it seemed those were normal.

Hope your next batch goes better, Cynthia!

It is true what they say about waiting before pulling your eggs though. I thought I was going to have to pull some clears, of some shipped eggs, but I waited a couple more days and candled again and they are doing fine now! That is scary to think I could have pulled them... (it was probably day 5 at the time) Decide at day 7 before pulling.
