January Hatch-a-long 2018

I love, love, Bantam cochins! Like the large breed too, but too big for my back yard. I've hatched for so many years. I had so much fun hatching this breed, or that, just to see them. I love getting the eggs now. I need to have some color in there, so I have an EE or OE out there. Right now, I have a different girl out there for green egg. She's a cuckoo bluebar. Lays great. Especially for a beginner. I wasn't sure I was going to like that comb at first, but now I think it's cute.View attachment 1242957 View attachment 1242958 View attachment 1242960

I have some Bantam Cochins too! They're my favorite chickens. I'm hoping for a nice little breeding group to hatch and sell hatching eggs. Currently rooster heavy so we'll see if that works out. Here they are. The little ones are 14 weeks. The big roo hatched August 5th.

I love your silver birchen roo there- he's gorgeous! I'm also a big fan of cochins- cochins and cochin mixes make up the majority of my flock. They have such wonderful personalities, and so many colors! Hope you get many girls with your young ones.

Take care I hope everything will go well for you! A couple of years ago I had something funny happen, where I was talking really slow, we were worried it was a stroke, we went in and they could not find anything, they did MRI's everything. I think it was just food allergies though probably made my throat tight, and swollen.

YIKES!!! That sounds scarry!!! Glad you made a full recovery!!

So I went ahead and candled the 2 eggs I was questioning, It was the one in the top left corner one of mine and one of the Ayam cemani eggs. The one in the corner didn't have any veins so I popped it open and it looked like it quit on day 10 not even any feathers, The AC looked like it quit on day 15, The veins were all thick and clotty looking (not red) in the candling.I popped it open too. It had all black feathers, but the toes were very tiny under developed don't cry for me though, I have plenty to work with.
