farmin'chick :

a bunch of ones from my red sex-link girls with a black copper maran over them

Bet those will be pretty birds!!!

I have one that is about 10 weeks old from this cross. It is a pullet and is faded black with golden red around the neck. I will post a picture later after my hands thaw out (I just plowed the driveway) She is very pretty and gentle. I am anxious to see if they all look like her.

I set eggs last night also. Some beautiful blue eggs. White and Wheaten/Blue Wheaten ameraucana from pips&peeps and a few of my eggs (olive colored ones). Jan 28th due date.

I set my very first natch Monday, Jan 4 @ 6pm. I let them rest until yesterday befor turning on the turner as they had to travel 700 miles in the back of my van to get home. There are 26 eggs, all bantam: 5 salmon Faverolles, 4 dk brown leghorn, 2 each Silver spangled Hamburg, black silkie, mottled Cochin & porcelain D'Uccle, a RIRB and 8 unknowns. Three of the unknowns have very mottled shells when candled, 2 with a clear ring at the small end - genetic? They are an experiment

My sweet DH is something less than pleased [I also came home with 6 hatchlings, a 7th that hatched on the trip home, 2 pips and 7 unhatched eggs - have a total of 10 chicks in the brooder 3 to 7 days old].

BUT I was GIVEN the chicks, GIVEN 2 hovabators and an auto-turner & GIVEN 26 hopefully fertile eggs!! What's a 'chick junkie' to do

FBCM? what does the "F" stand for?

F stands for French. The French Marans have feathered feet.

Have never seen it with the "F" in front of it I guess - I knew the french strains had feathered feet - that's what I have (roo only, can't hatch a pullet to save my life...)

Here you all go picks of my first 5 chicks i am up to 8 chicks and at least 12 more pips and still waiting on 10 other eggs i cant wait to get home and see what the count is up to and move some over to make room for the others, well no need to keep you any longer here
