I am hatching my first batch of chicken eggs in years, so it is almost like the first time all over again. lol I have some black copper marans eggs and some silver-laced wyandotte eggs due on the 21st, about 20 eggs in all. I candled today and saw movement in some so I am becoming increasingly more optimistic! Now I just need to be patient which is much easier said than done for me!

I put 14 in on the 7th and 12 more in today

2 silkie

3 turkeys

9 of my own some are turken and the rest are mystery!!

12 from today are a neighbors muts just for fun

So I'm all in !!............

You talked me into it.
First hatch, first home made incubator. We just set 10 Speckled Sussex eggs. They should hatch on January 30.

It's official. I set chickens, ducks and quail today. I have 3 LGs going with just over 100 eggs. All are shipped so I am really keeping fingers crossed on this one. I have put pc fans in each and am still trying to get thier temps perfect. The one that I used for my first hatch in the Christmas hatch is spot on, however I have recently purchase two more. My husband has given up his poker room for the moment and I have moved in with my "chicken laboratory"! He's so good to me....

Whoa! We had a 6.5 earthquake this afternoon that took out the power for five hours. It was pretty intense, though we've had much worse in the past. Hope everything in the bator is alright, it got down to 75 degrees.

Corny Chick: Hey, your new incubator room is way fancier than mine, I only get to take over my hubby's pool table room.

Barred Rockstar: I sure don't miss those earthquakes in CA. I've heard of hens getting off of eggs that long & still the eggs hatched; what a scare though for all concerned.

Thought some pictures would be good, while most of us are just waiting for our hatches. This January incubation is due Jan 28th, since they started evening of Jan 6th.

Here's my Christmas hatch below, they were the same breed.

only 7 days till lockdown all three remaining faverolles eggs are moving and look good. Then I have another batch due the 29th 39 eggs favs and blrw bantams.

My serama hen's eggs haven't hatched yet and aren't peeping or anything, though I think it should be nearly the time. I'm really hoping they still hatch!

Should I look underneath her at the eggs in more depth, or is it better to just completely leave them alone? Ahh, I need to try not to be nervous and impatient! I suppose if her two eggs with a due date soon don't make it, I'll just let her keep the other four and see if any of those make it. I'm really hoping for some serama chicks--mama Splash has been so devoted and great! Please think good thoughts for her eggs! Once my incubator arrives I'm going to set some eggs in there, too.

I have 23 eggs in the bator that are due to hatch on the 19th!

I candled on day 10 and 8 look clear. I didn't take them out as I don't have much candling experience and they didn't smell. I marked them with a "C" and put them back in just in case I was wrong. I'm excited to see how everyone's hatches go. This is my first time to hatch eggs - 12 of these are from my own birds (Salmon Faverolles and an EE) and 11 Silkie eggs from kentuckysilkies. It helps to have hatching buddies.
