I now have fluffy butt #2 which got here sometime between 2:30 and 4:00 am - I missed it again! Oh well, 12 more to go so surely I'll get to see one pip, zip and pop.

AW! So cute! One thing I think is so sweet is to watch how the babies will crawl over to the next egg to hatch for moral support.

Candling eggs left temporarilly uncovered by their fluffy-butted bator is ONE thing - I would do that, too. Opening up a carefully monitored styrofoam terrorist, on the other hand, creates all kinds of angst! Will I be able to get the temp/humidity re-stabilized or will the crazy thing spike to 104 or drop to 94? Once I am forced to turn that little thingy on the top clockwise or counter clckwise all %#*^! breaks loose for 48 hours+/-

Perhaps the answer is to have BOTH

If/when my Cochin goes broody [she is 3 months now], I can run to Trader Joe's or the Farmer's Mkt, grab some fertile eggs to stick under her and candle away
