With the four eggs remaining and several days of lockdown, no pips, nothing. Candled the eggs today, and while there are forms in there, I can't describe it but I feel like they're dead. Somehow they didn't look or feel alive to me, though it's hard to say exactly why. I'm not that upset, after all I got two beautiful, healthy serama chicks and I have plenty of time and means to incubate more serama eggs (after all, I've got a trio in my garage breeding and laying away!), but it is a little sad. I think I'll give 'em another three days and then open them up just to check out what happened. I think they may have gotten too cold when my broody decided to abandon them in favor of her chicks.
Anyone happen to have links to pictures of how late quitters look in candling? I'll go hunt around and see what I can find myself.
Next hatch will be much less complicated, like I said in another post! I'm setting them all at once, they're staying in the 'bator, I'm keeping track of what day they are, and so on. This time the broody, while I'm so happy with her mothering skills and I'm so glad she went broody, did certainly complicate things!
Congratulations to all who are getting chicks!
I just love my two little ones!
They're doing really well!
