K, thanks guys! I am on day 15, anticipating lockdown on Saturday. I could see movement in the eggs when I candled a earlier in the hatch, but now they just look dark and I don't see movement. I'd be so thrilled to see wiggle or something! I can't wait. At least knowing it varies will help and maybe I won't be so anxious... yeah, right. This is my first hatch.

When I got home from my classes today, the power was out and appeared to have been out for a long time. The incubator was at 70 degrees and 87% humidity. One of the eggs had pipped and then died because of the power outage.

I'm so sad! The other two weren't fully developed, but that one would have been out within twenty-four hours if it hadn't gotten too cold. I'm so disappointed and sad!

That's awful.

Thanks. I'm trying hard not to feel bad about it, but I'm surprised at how sad I am about it! Oh well, I have two healthy chicks, and things will be fine. Whatever happens is what was supposed to happen, I guess...

Single chicks also like feather dusters , it looks and feels like mama

I have been raising a single serama chick since the week after Thanksgiving, she is doing pretty good. She lives in a regular bird cage in our living room for now. Come spring we will put her out with the other chickens. It should be interesting. We have brought other banty chickens in for her to see.

Silverphoenix - so sorry for your loss. We had a power outage here today also - it is nerve wracking and so disappointing when you lose the babies.

I had one Serama chick around the same time (her hatch mate died within a week) and all the things that were suggested for her were great. She is doing fine now.

Oh my Gosh! I already have a pip! Some of these guys are going to be early!

Oh dear, They have not been on lockdown the previous 2 days, and they have been turned. Is this going to hurt the outcome?

I figured I should post something happier, so here are some photos of Splash the serama hen and her two pure serama chicks! The light one is over a week old, the dark one is about four days old.

I love them!

Anyone have guesses on what colors the babies are going to be?
