Pictures of chickies finally hatching, good!

flgardengirl: Sorry to hear your sick. Did you try the "piece of pipe cleaner trick from one ankle to the other" on the splayed legs one? It worked earlier this year for me on one Amer/Favs chick.

sav the favs: Thank you. I tried the bandaid trick on my last one that had splayed legs. I hadn't heard of the pipe cleaner method. Good idea

Last time that I had one with the splay legs, he kept getting the bandaid loosened somehow. So I gave him so physical therapy by holding him up just to balance him and making his legs stay in the proper position under him while also having him bear his own wieght. I did this several times a day until he could balance himself in the standing position..no walking yet. Then he gradually would correct himself (i.e moving his legs into proper position) on his own without me holding him up to balance. Then he just gradually started walking on his own properly. I am trying the same thing with this one. Her legs are a little weaker than the last guy's that I dealt with but she is definitely stronger than she was yesterday. I made her drink egg yolk soup last night lol.

Brindlebtch: Good for you, chickies!

flgardengirl: Egg yolk soup, brilliant! Never thought of that. The pipe cleaner thing works good & a lot of people use it, it is adjustable & stays on well without damage to the chicks skin; it takes them a short while to get used to their legs in the different position but braces them well to walk straight & keeps the hips alligned. How nice you can do the physical therapy time with them, you have a kind heart. Good luck with your chickie.

I just tried to take pics and the camera is dead as a doornail. Poop.

Sombra your chick hatching and drying photos are wonderful!

Was just trying to figure out what to put on them to mark the eggs that should be under momma, didn't need to number them or anything... was excited about the prospect of baby chicks in there

I was pretty lucky to catch the baby before it started to pop out. I did take the shell's "lid" off for the pics since I knew that chick was ready to pop out
