Glad to hear you got the one chick out of the detached cells. I have one that I asked about today since we just went into lockdown. The cell has not stabilized but it looks like there's a pretty big chick in there. I was wondering if it had a chance. I did the same thing as you without turning, rest before putting in, etc.

congrats on your baby!

Beautiful Babies, Txmel!! Congrats!

Did what will probably be my last candling before lockdown on Tuesday. Unfortunately all my EE eggs (4) were clear

I hatched the mama EE about 18 months ago and have only had two babies develop from her eggs - one is a beautiful cross with a golden lakenvelder I used to have and the other is an equally gorgeous solid black bird that just started laying olive eggs (crossed with BC maran). She used to leave me at least 5 eggs a week but she is now down to about 2 a week if I'm lucky - hopefully as the days grow longer that will improve again. I really wanted more olive eggers in my flock.
On a good note - only one of the 6 maran eggs were clear, it is so much easier to tell there is development toward the end in those. I have a new LED light that helps too.

So out of 39 eggs originally set I am down to 28. There were two that look to have quit early on. I have two more (the double yolker and another egg) that are due a week after these. And then I just set 9 more this afternoon from Chickbond 007. Two wellsummers and 7 maran/ maran crosses.

Then no more until later this spring - I mean it! I have nowhere to put these chicks to grow them out and I live in the city. This could get interesting...

Had One Peep Early Yesterday Afternoon Out Of 30 Eggs And That's It. It's Been Almost 20hrs And No More Action. Is This Normal? Should I Be Worried? How Long Does It Usually Take From Peep To Hatch? I Candled On Day 18, Culled 12 That Were Clear And Keep These Because They Were All Dark With Air Pockets On The Big End.

Mine are due on the 6th of feb. My first candling last nigh showed good development of 19/21. I removed and opened the two in question. On had a small bloody mass the other looked like a normal egg.

Mine are going into lockdown tomorrow, but I'm not too hopeful after the incubator tried to cook them.

I don't see any movement as of candling last night. I'm down to only about six that look like they even made it as far as the day 15 temperature spike, out of 24. Most were either infertile or stopped less than a week in.

Sasquatch: Good luck with your hatch due Feb 6th. In opening them early, that has happened to me also. Now I just wait to toss them & crack them open on day 14 or even the 3rd/last candling for "lockdown" on day 18; just in case there's a chance.

I have noticed in the last 2 incubation candlings that in week 1 the chicks in the eggs develop in different stages. So, some of the ones I would have tossed at day 7, were candled again & showing dark mass at day 10. Wheeu! Just when I thought I had it all figured out, "Mother Nature" has thrown me another curve.
