Well he has been wanting chickens and he doesn’t want to pay hatcherie prices so I found some eggs locally that had a rooster they were selling them as eating eggs so I got them at $2 a dozen so I told my buddy I’d hatch them and sell them at 75 cents a chicken and the four Brauma chicks would be $1.75 because I paid a dollar per egg for those and he said yeah do it so that’s what I did and when I get moved to the country he is going to give me some eggs to hatch chicks for me

I started last year with eggs from a local guy..... had terrible hatch rates.... kept a few for breeders and this year my hatch rates, with me keeping the parent stock, are Much better! This last hatch I started with 18 eggs, had 2 that didn't start, went into lockdown with 16 and hatched 13.... very happy!
Check your local craigslist..... or find someone here on byc that is close to you. My turkeys are all mixed color varieties, ok so my DD is keeping black ones for her 4-h project..... but we have some narragansett, slate, standard bronze, chocolate, and of course the black.

I ended up with 14 chicks one was weak and passed away so 13 in total they are now at my buddies place and he said he would let me know if he needs more so I may be hatching again before to long
