The Silkies are so cute. They look like drowned lil cotton balls when they first start to dry. Then poof...here comes the fro...lol....The Showgirls are by far the ugly/cutest.... you have these two eyes peeking from a cottonball on top of a lil naked neck....lol...

oh i think SG are the cutest things in the whole world!!! i hatched one out last year, turned out to be a roo, so i gave him to a friend of mine. i just saw him a couple weeks ago, he was crowin' away! still cute.....but the SG chicks!!! there's none cuter IMO! absolutely adorable!!

I have 5 SG chicks right now 2 whites and 3 blues.I have a setting due friday with more silkies/sg. I also have some eggs from a buddy of mine im hatching just to see what comes out. He has white silkies running loose with crele old english bantams.im curious to see if we get any crele silkies or silkie OEGB ......lol.

well i'm SO excited for you! you say it's your 1st chicken adventure....your 1st in hatching? or your 1st ever even owning chickens? (or both! lol) well, i'm sending hatching prayers your way! it's actually quite addictive! my husband looked at me seriously yesterday and said that i have a problem....lol! there's just something about chickens that is awesome. i would be the same way with ducks, geese, emus etc it i lived in the country. but all those are quite loud, can't have them here! we had geese when i was a teenager though. they were definitely the guard geese of our property!

Sadly, my 22 silkie eggs only hatched 7 babies!

The last pip was shrinkwrapped.... I put sponges soaked in warm water in there and as many bowls as would fit..... There is only so much you can do.

We are getting ready to put some eggs in the incubator in the next few days. This will be our 1st time. Someone told me that you have to take the eggs straight from the hens and into the incubator. Is this true? I would like to do 20 but we only have 11 hens and are only getting 7 to 10 eggs a day. Can you put others in after the 1st few? Good luck to those of you who are doing it know. Keep us informed.

You can store chicken eggs for hatching for two weeks, it will decrease you hatch but it can be done. I store quail eggs for up to 6 days before I set them into the 'bator.
Good Luck for your hatch!!

Good lord, no, that's not true. But it is best to put them all in together, otherwise you get a staggered hatch... Some hatching later, which could be a problem during lockdown.

Store 'em on the counter 'till you get your 20. Especially if you are getting at least 7 a day!
