Wish I knew someone around home I could talk to about chickens. I am all alone here in this.

I ended up actually putting mine in on the 23rd so we have the same hatch date exactly

I don't have anyone around here that has chickens either. My great grandma used to years ago and she thinks it is great that I'm doing this with my sons. Other than her... I just get on here as often as possible to learn as much as I can. I'm really hoping for a good hatch this time. I tried to candle the eggs but couldn't see a thing. I have a good wattage flashlight, and even tried an LED light, but no luck. I think the shells may be too thick or something. I could definately feel a difference in weight in some of them though. So far none are seeping, so I think I will wait until lockdown to try and weed out any bad eggs. Hopefully I can catch them before they blow up if there are any. I've read way too many scary posts about that. Have you candled your eggs yet?

We put ours in on the 31st at 8pm. I am so nervous i could lay an egg. I am going to go nuts waiting. we only did 10. we have brown eggs so until the 7th or 8th day i will not be able to tell if they are good. worried to death. ours should be here on the 21st also. so happy thee are other people going through what i am.

My chicks are peeping -- from inside the eggs!!!! I am so excited. I am spinning and twirling. I hear these tiny barely-there noises!!!! Have you all heard your eggs peeping at you?

Okay I will have 25 new babbies on the 7th of this month. I reset my bator, put in RIR and BO eggs, so the weekend of 1-22-11 I should have more babbiess. I have many oreders for BO and RIR and CX.

I should have another pair of Racing Homing pigeons hatch on the 4th,& in the incubator, 4 Red Shouldered Yokohamas & 28 Jumbo Brown Coturnix quail on the 15th. 2 more Yokies & 25 JBC's on the 20th. I couldn't even wait till january to start the bator!

Well, I'm down to 2 silkie eggs out of 20 shipped. The package arrived caved in on one side. The packing inside was great though, all eggs were intact. I candled and 1 was visibly scrambled inside. I set 19, removed 11 as clears & 4 as very early blood rings. Yesterday I removed 2 as quitters. On a better note....all my FBCM are developing!

wow! ur in the SAME situation my eggs are in! i had the same question on a different thread, and most people suggested that i put them all into lockdown on the "middle" day....meaning, the 1st set will go into lockdown a day late, the 2nd set goes in "just right", and 3rd set goes in a day early. so that's what i planned on doing. however, i ordered some OE eggs and they should be here THIS week when all these eggs are in lockdown. but i knew that i had a friend that would let me borrow an incubator....so that's what i did....i'm using her bator as my hatching bator and MY bator will be ready to receive the OE eggs when they get here. but as of now, i put my 1st set into lockdown yesterday (their actual day of needing to go into lockdown) and since i have 2 bators, i went ahead and left the other 2 sets in MY bator for an extra day in the egg turner....i'm putting BOTH sets into lockdown tonight right before bed. i would love to hear the responses about your question of whether to remove babies from the 1st batch though, cuz u gotta think, they're 2 days ahead of the last set. i'm no hatching pro, but i think i WILL remove babies at least from the 1st hatch IF no other eggs have pipped. but i don't know if that's the right thing to do. but i will probably do it cuz if that last set takes 3 days to hatch, the 1st babies will be in the bator too long.

I've pulled my babies out at different times. After a few hatch out and dry ,I have a spot set up already nice and comfy with light and all for them to go to.I don't like leaving them in the bator too long.So when I have a few ready to get out I pull em. Been doing good for me so far.The only thing being that the humidity is affected and may cause the hatching eggs to dry out some. For this I have a small spray bottle that i spray a light mist over the eggs to keep the moisture.
I have 5 hatchings out right now and doing great.Silkies/SG,OEGB, Coturnix. I have another batch of Coturnix due on the 6th and Silkies/OEGB due out on the 9th ,and then Silkies/OEGB on the 20th and Coturnix on the 21st.

Whiskey Bay are you talking about putting eggs in to hatch a different times? I wanted to do this but I heard once lockdown starts you can not open the incubator. This is my 1st time hatching.
