Congrats to everyone!

This was my first attempt at incubating chicken eggs....

Mail ordered and arrived Christmas Eve (it was COLD!). 48 developing eggs...some looked "iffy" but I left them in. I had temp flux's throughout the first 18 days, but nothing radical. Day 20, 11 hatched. Day 21, 11 more hatched!

6 had zipped but did not hatch

1 passed after hatching which I think was my fault and 3 were duds. I left the other 16 eggs in the bator but they don't look like they will hatch

It appears that 6 quit developing half way through incubation and the other 10 look fully developed but no movement. I know it was my first attempt, and I am ecstatic with the 22....but I feel horrible for the others that didn't make it. I think I will revamp one of my Bearded Dragon bators for chickens and try again (I used a hovabator this time).

So back to the happy part.....

Gorgeous babies! Congrats! I think only 7 of my eggs are viable, all Delawares. Poor old Suede is losing fertility, I fear, so none of the eggs from the Blue Orp pen seemed to be developing. I'll re-candle those tonight and see if there are any at all that started and if not, will toss those. Tonight will start Day 9.
