Well you learn something new every hatch and i sure did this one.

This one got bad scrambled in shipping and bad cold.3 looked good at lockdown only 1 tried to hatch.. humidity and temp correct whole hatch
Assisted after 24 hours pipped...
Once out The chick was curled in a fetal position couldn't get him uncurled
just rolled around kicking its feet.
Worse gasped for air and sleeping most of the time .If he moved he gasped.

I thought it would die i n 24 hours.So sad.
24 hours went by next morning ....still alive...

Day 2--- i gave it liquid crumbles, egg sugar poli vi solmix but he didnt want to eat. still he swallowed a few times as it ran in.just slept and gasped for air
- fed him again a few times a day in case he was hungry until he died
He laid there.eyes mostly not open in the bator on his side as still curled up but i would find him all over the bator he was scootching around on his side and flipping around.

Day 3 ---Morning hes standing!! NOT curled PERFECT on his feet head up not down....TRUE MIRACLE.!!
.Stands like any chick and can walk too no "curl" residuest but was breathing really hard cant stand long. then asleep every few minutes

.Day 4 ---Again moring expect him dead ...NO! STILL: In the bator alive !! Using the bator as a a brooder b/c i thought if lungs not heart had liquid in them they may dry up if the humidity is low its 17 in there. Rooms usually 45 or 50
So Today i am so encouraged....he standing whenever i peek in,. He peeps a lot and cos which he hadnt done at all..He is wanting to stand most of the time but gets tired here and there a Little but not so much now.VERY wiggly. He is strong!!
Still gets winded if afraid or flaps his little wings but better all the time .Loves it in my lap under the soft piece of sweater

Im am getting attached to this little fighter and named it Blessing as its sure a blessing its still here for now anyway..AND HES more and more active TODAY
AND WANTING to eat the eye drop feedings ..not hard food yet but the liquid.

LESSON TO ME ; DONT GIVE UP TOO SOON
He was truly HOPELESS and i was SURE he would die .If i had the heart i would have culled him first day . such a mess..but I just couldnt do it.Im too weak
My lesson was dont give up too early on a seemingly totally hopeless case.
Even if he does die at least he had a few days of life cuddled in my lap and fed and walked a little like a real chicken.

FYI He is a HinkJC baby and truly the prettiest baby i ever have had ..so fuzzy and big.

My fingers are crossed for this little fighter and i have a glimmer of hope now .
POWER TO BLESSING.......

FIGHT ON!!!

Tape on his toes because first day all curled up he tore up his neck all bloody with his own nails.

Sleeping today all comphy, flash woke him.
AWWW Oh wow, his beak is so cute!!

Thats so true Gods hands ....yesterday when i saw it stand i prayed it would live and be ok prayed HARD and today....GODs hands for sure
Was just thinking it was the one hatched out the center of the shell closer to the small end wonder if it breathed in fluid while hatching? How it acts i know its its lungs or heart. .The lungs possibly could get cleared up if so. maybe why he isntr breathing so hard as beofre.
Dont want t o Expect it though.. too much hope..but it would be wonderful.
Assist well.... it had not made much progress in 24 hours didnt seem to be going to either. Not much peeping at all the whole hatch maybe twice and quietly
I figured it had a physical problem was why i helped at 24 ..He had a quarter sized hole but not the membrane 2 small holes pipped in it ...one up one down and looked very dry been like that for hours .. .weird .so i just tore the middle out and chipped some shell by its head and he did the rest in short order..think he couldnt breath well so had to rest too often to really get into zipping.
Aww, this reminds me of how I prayed for my chick to live. My chick pipped and just decided to stay there for about 36 hours before I helped. In the middle of waiting nervously to intervene with the hatch after assisting a little, I went for a walk outside and I prayed for at least one chick to hatch. I pretty much begged for one to hatch. I promised that I would love the chick and take care of the chick regardless of gender or physical disabilities (at the time I was told I could only have females). And then later that night I watched as my chick pretty much popped out of the shell and peeped her head off. She was not deformed or anything at all- perfectly healthy!! I watched her through the glass as she watched me back as she fell everywhere and peeped. Now she is five weeks old! None of the others made it, sadly. I named her Hope, as in to gain hope that the others would hatch. She is a miracle chick from a horrible incubator. I didn't think one would hatch at all! She is my profile picture! :D I love her so much! She peeps as if she's trying to make clucking sounds, rather than random peeps here and there. It's very cute!!!

I am soon going to try and hatch her some buddies!

So far I am still hopeful to have most of the 34 hatch - This is my second time around w/ it but candling looked good - maybe a few blood rings? But not sure as all photos I found online did not look that same way... ugh lol

Horrible me..already planning the next batch! A few over 10 EE/EE eggs & some of my new quails eggs.
