Jap Bantam Chicks

Ok so I have some Jap Batam x Frizzle chicks, I noticed with the frizzled ones some of them have higher up tails while others don't, is this because the jap Batam gene is stronger or they could be roosters? they are very young and only just getting in wing and tail feathers. also, if the jap bantam gene is stronger would the chicks of these chicks be less likely to turn out frizzled?

I can't tell you whether the high tails indicate whether they are cockerels or not, but whichever parent they take more after in terms of conformation has nothing to do with whether they will produce frizzled chicks or not. Frizzling is a dominant gene. One parent must be frizzled in order for the chicks to be frizzled, and if they got the gene, they they will be frizzled. That means that if you bred a frizzled parent that had one copy of the frizzle gene (and frizzles should only ever have one copy if you are breeding responsibly, since having two copies leads to a lot of feather issues) to a smooth feathered parent that does not have the gene, 50% of the offspring will inherit the frizzle gene and thus 50% of the offspring will be frizzled.

So, you will get frizzled chicks out of any of these chicks that you have that are frizzled. Any that are smooth will not produce frizzle chicks, unless, of course, you breed them to a frizzled bird. And two frizzled birds should never be bred together due to the feather issue I mentioned above.
