Japanese Bantam Thread!

What kind are the little chicks in this pic? They look just like the bantams I got from Tractor Supply but have no idea what I bought.

Editing this because I was actually trying to reference a reply to the chicks at the bottom of page 6...

Looking for Japanese from a show flock in Oregon, California or Washington.....or from anyone that will be traveling to Oregon. I don't want to ship. I keep getting told of a Dr. Watts in Washington but I can not find any contact information for him. HELP!! :):)

That'd be Dr. Al Watts of Vashon, WA. I would also try contacting Bill Schwall or Jim Lucas of Onalaska, WA. I know they both had some fantastic Japanese years ago but haven't heard from them in a while.

I always leave it up to the hens to take care to hatch and take care of their own chicks. I tried rearing chick in a brooder once, too messy and noisy!

I have been lucky that they all get along. I once had 3 broody hens all sharing a huge number of chicks between them. Hens and chicks all would pile up each night in the corner.

My birds are totally free range, so perhaps that helps. If they were in a cage or small run maybe they would fight.

Love that blue tail! Darling!

Well I guess what kind of bantams are at the bottom of page 6? Look like mine and am just curious. Also, how d
Or when do you know if one is a rooster?

I have a blue tail hen, and a white rooster. If I breed from this pair will the chicks have blue tails?
Also, If I let the white rooster mate with a buff hen will the chicks be lighter colour buff, or mottles buff?

As you can see I don't know about the genetics stuff.

Thanks
