The BTW are supposed to have white lacing on the tail feathers. On the hen they should be on the smaller outer tail feathers, and on the to enter tall feathers. On the roosters, they should have lacing on the sickles. The best is a very thin line around the edge without mossiness in the body of the feather itself.

follow this link: http://books.google.com/books?id=rAYYAQAAIAAJ&q=japanese+bantam#v=snippet&q=japanese bantam&f=false

and go to pages 306 and 307 While these are an artists rendition of the standard, they are representative of what is best. With the exception being that as shown, the female would have the top 4 feathers edged in white, and the standard say top two feathers. (not the top two feathers on each side) Also above and below these pictures, is the standard description of the Japanese. This is available through the google books as a 1915 edition of the Standard of Perfection. Everyone should go here and read up on the description and color description if it is available. Some colors were not approved that long ago.

Well, the legs are long and the tail is carried too far forward. Nice big comb. How about the length of leg on the hen?

The Standard calls for the tail to be carried "forward of the perpendicular as to almost touch the back of the head".

His legs are much too long.

As to the hen's white legs, a yellow legged female will often lose leg colour while in production. If she's laying regularly that may account for the white legs.
