Japanese Bantam Thread!

I have been reading on hatch rates and agree 12 would be best.
An even 3 dozen would be better. Better chance of getting a few pullets that way. For some odd reason, I always get more cockerels than pullets. Out of 10 japs I purchased, only 3 were pullets.

Because we have limited space I can only do a dozen. I still need to find the eggs. I plan on setting them in March so I have some time.

Just bought a lovely trio of mottled japs I have a few questions
1. Do they breed true, will all of the chicks be mottled?
2. I plan to hatch soon and can you tell the leggy ones as chicks and must they be culled?
3. How do you all keep the wing tips clean and in good condition?
Thank you all, any input appreciated.

I'm trying to find GOOD showable grey japs. I have contacted all the breeders with emails on the Jap Breeder club page. only 2 have responded and they dont have them any more. any help would be soooooo appreciated. I dont' want to have to go hatchery route if i can avoid it. Thanks!

Had 5 White Jap Black Tail pullets hatch from two clutches this summer. Here's one of them.
