Japanese beetles

A couple days ago I had ants under the ramp of the duck house. I put the de down and all gone the next morning.

Hum. Well that's good. Idk. . it doesn't seem to work for me
But I have ants galore where I live. They are into everything.

I used the beetle traps last year. I swear they attract more beetles than without it! I was excited about feeding the beetles to my girls, but they wouldn’t touch them! This year I am going trap free and may try hand picking them off my Japanese maple and weeping cherry trees.

The fact that you got chickens running around so close you kind of limited to what you can use can't use Talstar or anything too strong. Have you tried neem oil?

you got a hose available you can always just try to spray them down lightly hoping they would fall off and then your chickens could get them

I know my call ducks wouldn't eat them! Curious to see if my Cayuga ducks will.

I would try neem oil, though it is best if it is used at the very start of your problem. A few years ago, I added milky spore to the soil of my gladiolus beds ad that cut down the Japanese beetle problem by a large margin. Good luck!
