Japanese maple

I’m sorry if this has been asked before… I’m new here, but I wanted to plant a Japanese maple in my yard and for the chickens to have some shade but… If the leaves fall, I’m worried they might be toxic to the birds. Will they avoid them?

I am an arborist. We have 3 chickens where I work. I break a branch off for them and stick it in the ground. They love it. They defoliate it in minutes. The eat the samaras as well.
