Japanese Quail Color Calculator- Best Link

colors... here is a minor battle in a Quail war

so you think you just happened to concoct new "colors" or mutations?, maybe its just they havent seen the combo of genes come together before.

not going to be frequently that mutations pop-up, uhm, thats why they are called "mutations"...

and claiming new "colors" (quail oil) just because you haven't seen all the colors available according to the forumulas...

and if you are gonna claim a "new" color, how about it has to breed true for several generations and how about knowing the genome (blueprint) for it before we can go claiming stuff...

think you are a breeder and wanna impress someone, post a pic and the color blueprint.

99.9% of US coturnix colors have already been done...only so many combos given the starting #s, until someone illegally smuggles in blues... all colors are accounted for and can be reverse engineered.

Until someone gives me the genetic color blueprint of sire and dam and pure brreding offspring, its just an "easter egger"

Actually i do believe you think to highly of this so called quail war when in prospect , You have issues with the quail influences that stand outside of your circle,But i will say this your determined.Even the older members here are seeing issues with these tactics.Your loud when you speak but it does go on many deaf ears.

Im not going to argue with you. you are entitled to your opinion too.

ive read your previous posts.

thanks.

back to the colors and the quail calc.

right below the link the author helps us understand the SF and DF, Single Factor (heterozygous) and Double Factor (homozygous)

manchurian for golden DF (homozygous golden) italian for (heterozygous golden)

also notice Roux on brown gene loci

Japanese Quail Calculator, US version (Japanse kwartel, Coturnix japonica)
This version uses some fancy colornames like Tibetan for Tenebrosus,
Manchurian for golden (DF), Italian for gold speckled (SF).
Note that Brown and cinnamon are not common in the US, but Roux mutation, on the same gene as Brown, is.

think it might be easier to get some screenshots, and remember we are talking "known", US colors here

see if this works. oh how awesome, the "default" blueprints are for "wildtype"

Wh+Wh+ Br+Br+ yw+yw+ e+e+ pi+pi+

so, the pure/true breeding birds are by definition unable to carry one copy of a gene at any loci, crossing 2 birds with heterozygous genes at any loci will result in birds with 0,1 and 2 copies of the gene.

pure breeding colors include birds with 2 copies of their "color" gene at the specific color loci, browns, whites, tibetan (DF), Roux, manchurians and combinations of these birds whose offspring carry two copies of each gene, roux manchurian, etc... should all breed true.

edited for screenshot, notice the roux manchurian when crossed to another roux manchurian, produces 100% roux manchurian.
