Monte is a sweetheart.
And a wealth of information.
I have just hatched out a herd of his babies, and they are feathering in nicely..a fantastic bloodline addition to my existing flock.
I am getting weary of hatching, brooding..all the little water fonts & marbles....
th.gif

Never thought I would say that..but I think after the eggs in the incubator are done, I am taking a incubating vacation.
Right now my cabinet if packed with gambrels, mutant melanistics, games & more Icelandics.
The first 3 for a friend.
I am doing her hatching service, and she picks up her chicks the next day to brood them..I have no brooder space left.
I have a 3 week old flock of meaties & dark cornish growing out...

The next thing I put in my incubator will be a large set of the feather-shanked & toed Cuckoo Marans I have been working on...finally got 2 gorgeous and very NICE cockerals, just crowing & doing their jobs and are so super friendly.

Proud of that flock.
The Javas will grow and go in with the existing Javas, also very friendly and beautiful birds.
I might add, that the hen from haTHOR is the spoiled little girl !
love.gif

She lays (4 to 5 X a week) 2 eggs a day!!!!!!!
OR 1X a week, she lays an egg the size of a runner duck egg=double yolker.
Outside of all this, working on a mottled Ameraucana hatched out from Blues...a beautiful fluke!!!!!!
She is pure black & white, not beetle green black either!

So I WILL develope this further.
I also have a gorgeous flock of Buckeyes hatched & in their own coop now, from Chris McCary....

So, signing out for now...have so much to do everyday since our weather has given us a long, long wet winter.
Bye guys!

wow I am impressed with her laying that many eggs! i have BJs that i hatched here about the same time as you got eggs from me, and they are laying really well, but not THAT well! thanks for the update.

Joy, these birds are a JOY!!
I just had a woman stop by who buys eggs from me every Friday.
Wanna meet the chickens? I asked her.
"Yes" she said.
So took her around & showed her the breeds, and when we got to the Java pen, here comes JC running..and he did the dance & coo'd for me...he is a jewel!!
His temperment is so wonderful.
He has a few stray red hackle (you can see on the pics) and has a squirrel tail (very long sickles) but he is the best temperment cock bird I have ever seen.
The hen is small, but lays so very well!!!
And she wows with her huge super-dark deer eyes.
A beautiful hen with big bambi eyes.
love.gif

I think she is my favorite of all 100 birds I have.
She knows it too.

I took a pic of the giant egg she laid yesterday, will post here shortly.
I am concerned about her "burning out" eraly on laying, due to laying 2 a day.
Hens only have so many eggs.

JC is a Malcolm son
50801_java_egg_002.jpg

JC again...the most wonderful lover-boy Cock bird.....
50801_java_egg_004.jpg

The giant egg from yesterday, please forgive the bright flash.
The egg was a bit crusty on the end, as if she laid 2 eggs and stretched 1 egg-shell over it all.

Another shot of the giant egg, a BIG naval orange to compare to.
yes it was a double yolker.

Another flash-wash-out photo of a microscopic Nankin chick I just hatched from Monte as well...little bugger is adorable!
Kicks butt on the LF chicks.
OK, gotta go, my fence is not being built as long as I am sitting in here.
But I promise to come back soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH, and::
Tacey, I thought I joined the new Java Club, but do not think the web form went through..it was a few days after this club was formed.
Of course Monte told me there already was a Java Club...

I found an ad on craigslist:

http://peoria.craigslist.org/grd/2435307440.html

should I? would I?

what should I ask??

I only want hens..no roos!!

this person seems to have a lot of chickens up all the time...??

PS--I seem to have a hard time seeing pics of each of these kinds he has; white, black etc..

can anyone show pics of each kind? I see a few roos here of the black ones..but havent seen the other colors or hens...

Hi monagain, i would call and go over their and look at his chickens. I hatch a lot of chickens and always have some chickens for sale , so don't worry about his posting.Just look at his parent stock, look at the chicks for good health . I've had black javas for years and just got 2 white chicks this year!! I put javas up on craigslist before and one of our BYC members bought them and turned out to be a good friend.

Just have to share my latest happy news. Minerva, my lovely BJ who loves to go broody in heat waves. She starts sitting tight and I start looking for 100 degree temps. Sure enough, she did it again! She has a little brood of 3 BJs and 3 Olive Eggers.
