Well, I tried everything to get my 2 buckeye roosters to behave like gentlemen, but they continued to tear up 3 hens. Bald backs and heads on the girls, the aprons got removed (don't know by who) and one guy just didn't like DW. So, they went to the auction to be rehomed . Now the hens who were not bothered too much by the roos are acting like they are retaliating against the 3 who got all the attention. The 3 are not allowed on the roost, they get chased away from the treats, and get pecked when they get close. Suppose this is chicken jealousy cause they got the attention or because the 3 look so bad with the missing feathers? There is no blood showing at the bald spots and today I sprayed them with blu-kote. Or am I reading too much into this and the pecking order needs to be re-established with the roos gone?
Other than that, the girls have calmed a lot since the roos left.
