Jersey Giant Color Genetics

Hi, does anyone have any information on Jersey Giant coloring Genetics. I have a Black jersey giant rooster and a black hen, but the chicks I am hatching from them appear to be blue, and splash with very little being black, and the few that are black have white wing feathers growing in too. Im also sure that my other roosters are not breeding the hen because one is a silkie and one is a cochin, that are both bantams, and the chicks dont have any of their features, such as feather legs or walnut comb. I read online that with both parents being BJG's that the chicks will all be black, but this doesnt appear to be the case, any info on this will be appreciated.

Are you sure they're black and not just a really dark blue?
That's the only explanation I can come up with.

It is common for black chickens to have some white feathers when they are young, especially in the wings.

It sounds like your black Jersey Giants are a very dark blue.

If you can, share pictures of your breeders and the offspring.

How old are your chicks? White feathers are common in young black chickens.

But if you are truly getting Splash chicks, you have to have two blues. You can't get a splash from two blacks.

Agreed. Both parents are definitely blue.

These are English Orpingtons, but you can see two blues in the first picture and a black bird in the second with a blue nearly out of the shot.
