So a few days ago my 6 month JG laid her first egg. As you can see it’s very cracked, and had a soft shell, but I’m pretty sure that’s normal for her first. (Or maybe she stood on it, she is pretty fat!)

Here’s the second one, ithad weird spots on the top, and a weird ‘lump’ on the side. Better shell this time though.

Here’s her most recent one. Had this very weird pattern on it, and the lump on it as well. Much better shell quality though. :ya

The thing i find really weird about all this, is that when I hatched her (brought eggs online), she came from a very light egg, and now it almost looks like a store brought one? Dunno how to explain that one. (Hatching egg pictured below)

She was screaming like a goose earlier, and running in and out of the nesting box, so I’m sure I’ll have another tomorrow. I’ll update then!

BJG don’t lay a very dark egg, I’d call it medium brown. It takes a couple months to really work out the kinks in the egg system. Also, I doubt she is “fat”, considering she is the largest breed is chicken, she has a large frame, and at 6 months is still not fully grown.

It is a joke! She is much bigger than all my others, and a much rounder shape that makes her look fat. Thankyou for your reassurance about her egg system, and she is a splash Jersey Giant, not a black one. I am aware it is not an official colour.
