Jersey Giant. Girl or Boy?

If it kept regrowing its fluff I would think it has some defect. If it ends up being a girl I don’t doubt she’ll take a long time to lay her first egg if she even lays one at all.

I got Black Jersey Giants from TSC but they turned out to be Australorps. Still good large birds and I like them. I have since bought real Jersey Giants from a reputable breeder. They’re only 2 weeks so I still have a while to see how big they get.
Squatch was 13 lbs when we rehomed him

We have male and female BJG.
The back should be flat (horizontal), and they should have a wide/spreading tail - not a typical rooster tail with a few long feathers.

Obviously bigger than others:

They're gorgeous. I have three other hens that look like regular Jersey Giants and then there's the other two that are questionable. The one that I posted for comparison definitely has JG in her because she's massive. I honestly think that I got a bad batch or the parents weren't both JG from Hoovers. It's frustrating especially when I had to scrape money together to buy them. The one in question though has alway been different. He's always been smaller and slower growing and very very quiet. Regardless I love him the same.

Have you contacted Hoover? I bet they would like to know if these are mixed. Maybe another bird snuck somewhere it wasn’t supposed to by accident? Either way, I’m sure they would like to know.

And like was mentioned, Australorps don’t have pea combs so not that either. Unless it is mixed with Australorp.

I contacted them just now and all they said was that they would give me a refund for the two chicks.

That’s good they’re giving you a refund!! Weird they couldn’t say what breed though. They probably don’t know if it was an accident haha
