Beautiful pictures!
One of my ladies laid a strange egg a few days ago, and I don't know what to make of it. I wonder if I will get more like it. It is difficult to see in the picture(and in person), but when I had washed the egg the white coloring had gone away revealing darker brown speckling. The next day the white was back so I took a picture of the clean egg. I will send that picture later, but here is a picture of it before I washed it so it is a little dirty. What are your thoughts on it?

My thinking would be uneven calcium deposited as she was making the egg shell. Make sure they have a good calcium supplement and keep an eye on her next few eggs. Does this one seem to have a thin shell?

They have been having strong egg shells, including this one. I do not currently provide calcium, but will do it ASAP. Aren't calcium deposits bumps on the shell that match its color? This becomes clear when wet and is smooth to the shell. I honestly don't know though, and I am sorry if this comes off as rude. Just asking questions. Thanks for the feedback.

These are two of my breeding prospect females. I've had a close eye on the one in the back from an early age. They are 6 months old and just now beginning to show more developed combs and wattles. Hoping for egg laying to begin after the first of the year - although I've heard some say their Jersey Giants didn't begin laying until 8 months.
