I bought 3 australorpe chicks from tractor supply (which is why I think i might have gotten a jersey giant) and they’ve grown up to be healthy beautiful birds. But I’ve noticed that one of the three is about 2x or maybe even 3x as large as the others. Is she a jersey giant, or just a big girl?

What color are the bottoms of the feet?
If they are yellow, they are JG.
If they are pink or greyish, the are BA.
Do you have a heat lamp on those birds?

They have yellow pads, so yes they are Jersey Giants! That’s so exciting! Thanks for the comments

Oh and they’re not exactly heat lamps, more like heaters in the rafters of their coop

Why are you using them? They are well past being fully feathered. If you put heat on them now, they will not be able to acclimate for winter. And if your coop is set up properly, they should not the heat source at all.

@MysteryChicken is your JG still alive and doing well? I am considering ordering one but not if it has a shortened life span like a CornishX. Is your JG a hen or a roo?
Yes she's still alive. She's 4yrs, old. We will be putting her in the pot, after she's done molting. She's not laying very many eggs anymore also.
