Jersey giant rooster crossed with dark Brahma hens.

Have the Brahma mothers been with any other roosters in the last two months? Hens can carry sperm for a remarkably long time. And are you sure that the only possible mother’s are dark brahmas?

Have a 1 yr old (1)BJG Roo and 2 year old (2) LtBramah hens both about 9lbs currently. I am going to try this summer. Sold to me as Delaware Hens .. Nope. Both have feathers on the legs.. however one has only one feather high up on only one leg.
I also have a huge 11lb AustralorpXMaran solid black beautiful ROO that is now 2 years old. He may be worth putting on some JG hens once I get some. What a sturdy and smart fellow. Is smart enough to keep safe from out Hawks and roosts in with the horses.. His job is to keep the paddocks clean of bugs and flies. He is good at it. So a keeper. Best rooster I have had so far.
Ordered some Buff Orpingtons to see if I get lucky on a broody hen. May try a BJGXBuffOrp next year.
Have 8 JG hatching eggs on the way to my incubator this week. 6/17/2022. With luck will get the JG coop going .
I also have a few I bought from a lady who bought a Hatchery mix that I will be using. These are now 4-9 years old and not laying as much as before. I will breed the younger ones and see what if anything fertile I get. I will be dispatching them and focusing mostly on XL meat/eggs birds. I will keep the younger ones if they still lay.
The others I will try are med sized birds. Splash MananXLeghorn Mix 8lb hen, Wellsummer 5lb hen, Easter Egger 5lb hen, AustralorpXMaran 9lb hen ... I have a wonderful Silver Spangles Hamburg that I will be keeping and putting into a separate coop to raise as laying pets on my deck. Love this hen so very much. Well worth the effort to buy more and make a hobby flock out of this breed. Too small to keep with the big birds however.
Slow but sure will migrate to a heavy meat bird flock with a good sturdy mixed genetic.
I would like to see a Rose comb meat chicken with as good or better size then the JG breed.
Not concerned about color. But will be culling out any deformities or issues as I go along. I have 3 of those at the moment, crooked feet or toes and one always has a hard time in winter and stops laying. As it is right now they lay and are nice birds. They are my older hens so will phase out all by themselves. I have one hen that is a huge prospect but her temperament is horrific. She spends 50% of her daily energy beating up other hens ... not the type I like to have around. A real nasty bully.

Anyone have any hints or suggestions that would be great.
