Jersey Giant???

I am actively looking for a jersey giant rooster. These are the photos of one for sale. I am not sure if it’s a giant or an australorp. The person said they purchased them from Meyer hatchery. Maybe someone can help me out please. Thank you.

How old is the one in the pic? He looks kind of trim for a JG. The legs of a JG should be slate colored, and these look lighter. The bottoms of the feet have some yellow it appears, which is expected for JG.

I was told they were bought as chicks from Meyer hatchery October of last year

Ok. Good to know. Often hatchery stock isn’t as large as a breeder will be able to provide. Where are you located?

my male JG have been larger than this one at a similar age. However, JG are slow growing. A standard weight for a rooster (over 1 year old) is 13 lbs or greater for a JG. It is the largest breed in APA book of standards.

are you wanting JG for breeding, eating, show, or eye candy?

I live in SC. I am looking for backyard chickens that I’ll eventually breed. I’d love to buy from breeding stock but can’t find a database to locate breeders.

I’m in Mississippi and have a beautiful Jersey Giant roo I hatched myself - on 10/23/21

he is a magnificent thing but we are in a more residential area and his crowing is quite loud. I’m trying to find him a good home.
