I recently got a Jersey Giant chick with my chick order that came in on Tuesday of last week. I have seen pictures on google of approximate size, but I don't know if all these pictures are real. I was hoping someone out there may be able to post a picture of a Jersey Giant hen in comparison to another hen or object so I can get a rough size for these birds. The size doesn't bother me, actually it was one of the things that made me want one. Also if someone can tell me about how many eggs they get from there Jersey Giant also that would be fantastic. Thank you all in advance.

I've never had a Jersey Giant, but I've heard all good things about their laying!
I know that they CAN (but don't usually) get as big as 20 pounds!

I've heard around 10lbs for hens. I just want to know their size compared to a hen of another breed. They are just so fascinating looking and I couldn't help myself but get one. I also knew they weren't going to be as good a layer as the golden buff or australorp I got but still needed one. I don't know what I would do with a 20lb chicken! It would definitely make a wonderful dinner when it was done laying for me. I keep telling my DH that if any of the six I ordered turns out to be a roo I want it to be the JG.

Here is a picture of a Jersey Giant standing beside a normal dual-purpose hen. Keep in mind that JGs mature slowly, so it takes them a while to reach that size.

Wow. I knew they matured slowly I was just really curious how big the hens got. All I seemed to find on google was pictures of roosters. Thank you for posting that
