Jersey Giants or silkies

I was going to get silkies but now I got on eBay and now am more leaning towards jersey Giants so I could use some help how often do silkies lay eggs and how often do they go broody and for the jersey Giants how often do jersey Giants lay eggs and do they go broody and where can I get the full sized ones that are huge thanks

Hi,

I've read that silkies are good broodies, so l assume they good broody relatively often. I've no clue on Jersey giants. If you only want your chickens for eggs, then large breeds can be more expensive to keep (eat like troopers) than lighter breeds that lay equally as well. I have some commercial dual purpose birds in my flock that lay very well, but they look like they need to be on a diet! I also have a lighter breed (2-3 months) that i am hoping will lay equally as well, but will not look like sumo wrestlers, so hopefully my feed bill will reduce.

I already did I still am leaning forwards the jersey Giants as that is what I think I am getting I might have to cut the hole bigger in the side of the coop for them to get inside thanks

I think it's going to be black jersey Giants but I might still consider silkies as I was leaning forwards jersey Giants as they lay over 100 eggs more than silkies thanks
