Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

I'm sorry, but your male looks to be a White Plymouth Rock. White Jersey Giants have willow colored legs with a yellow undersole.

The Tinman, no the whites do not have the same green sheen that blacks do. Green is supposedly a pigmentation issue. Since white feathers lack pigmentation, they do not have the visible sheen seen on the blacks and even some blues.

I don't use roosts anymore in my Giant pen after my cock hurt his leg and never healed.

I had to get a new cock.

I have to ask- are the soles of his feet yellow? He looks like a duplicate of my 5 mo old Orp boy, Goliath!! Goliath has a lot of growing to do, still, but he's soooo huge...I wondered about his lineage, but he's from a great line...so?

His feet are clearly white, and his shape is more Orpy- it's the size that has me stumped. His siblings are normal.

I've got him with my fave Lavender Orp hen, Eliza, and I've got the Jersey hens with her brother, a Lavender roo, Darcy.

I do't know what I'm doing with this Lav JG project- I haven't any room for it right now. I'm selling the eggs until I make a new pen.

His legs do look willow to me in the sunlight and his undersides of them are yellow. In compared to my Dominique hens who have yellow legs, his legs are not yellow. The picture was taken with a camera phone so the quality of the picture is not the best. All the chicks looked like JG chicks and not Plymouth Rock chicks, as from what I can tell on the internet, white plymouth rock chicks are yellow or a very light yellow. None of my JG's were yellow, they all had their grey tuxedo's on. I'm going with them still being JG's.

Edit: I also want to add that these are hatchery chicks. The hens in my bunch do have darker legs than my only rooster. I'm not going to breed them for any purpose so I am happy with whatever I got, even if they aren't on T with the breed standards. It's like having the one puppy in the litter that has a confirmation fault that wouldn't make him eligible for showing. I'm still going to love that puppy if I ended up with it.
