I feel your pain. I'm in MO but need to send 8 roos to freezer camp this week. I was out putting black plastic over the windows at 5AM to give the neighbors a couple more hours sleep.

I call them gentle giants.

Hi all, Just wanted to share a photo I took yesterday of my friend's flock of Jersey Giants. She started her flock from show stock from Chris Maddalena, APA judge, master breeder and master exhibitor. Later I gave her five "regular" jersey hens that I had no roo for. All of the blue birds are pure show lines, and the black ones are mixed, half or three quarter show lines. The roo shown is only nine months old now, so he has not reached his full size and glory yet. I can't WAIT to see how he matures out! We just put eggs in the incubator Saturday to check fertility, so we will know more by next week. Anyhow, just wanted to share. Not my birds, but I can sell and ship eggs as if they were mine, (but she gets the $, LOL) What are friends for???) She has not shown her birds, but hopes to hatch out and show some this year! Here's hoping for a good year showing Jersey Giants!

a few people asked for more pics of Andrea's flock. These are not the best shots, because it was late in the afternoon, and I had to toss down some scratch to get them together for "pitcher day" and mostly its pics of backs and butts. I did manage to get one sideways pic of the only splash hen. She is very poofy and orpinton looking to me, but her feet are yellow on the bottom. The others are longer backed and larger framed than she is. Anyhow, here are the other pics I took. Not the best, but... pics.

My gals wouldn't use my 12x12 nest boxes. I ended up taking a divider out, so they now have a few 12 x 24 boxes, and they DO use them. My guess is that probably a few inches bigger would be perfect, perhaps 14x14 or 16 x 16.

Here are pics of the Black Giant cockerel{Cogburn} that I mistakenly got last spring(he was supposed to be a pullet):
