Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Okay, now I'm feeling badly about posting like I am not pleased with what I have now. Shame on me for that, as I truly AM! Sheesh.

You know how I feel about this, girl! Oh, how I WISH I lived closer to you!!! I think your last boy will be a tough one to find a replacement for...

Thanks Wynette !
I sure hope they just keep getting better.
I can't wait to see what they will look like next spring.
Please keep me in mind one that new line. I really would like a few of them.
As I'm sure others would to . Thanks for the update on them as I was wondering about them the other day .

My hindrance is that I am so darned impatient!

Not a huge hindrance, it's just a much more expensive than the way I have to go around it! BA HA HA!!!

I feel like I got super lucky with my last batch of hatching eggs...but boy, it took some fanagling (sp?) to get her to send me some!

Soaring - I'll definitely keep updating on how they are growing out.

The one boy that I like so well - I spoke with the breeder about him just the other day. Sent her several pics of him, and she said that with the blues, they CAN tend to look awesome and then totally fall apart later on, like at the 8-10 month point. She has one that was from the same parents as my boy and she said he looks exactly like mine. She's super excited about this particular cockerel, and it's a good sign when parent stock throws babies that look so similar!

She felt the same way about her boy that I do about mine - we both felt very early on that they were special. So I'll just be hoping it "holds" and he matures nicely!

Oh, so point of interest (at least to me). The breeder has been caponizing all of her cull males. And selling them as pets! Says there's apparently a good market for them, as they are gorgeous and so, so friendly, just following you around like puppy dogs. Seems an odd "pet" to me, but I guess it's a good use for a cull.

Anyone familiar with Black or White JG hatchlings want to weigh in on whether I have a JG pullet (or two) among these three chicks?

Possible breeds are limited to: Barred rock, Silver Laced Wy, Red Wy, Red/black sex link, and black/white Jersey Giant...

I've been told the black with the light smudge on the head is: either a black sex link cockerel, or a barred rock cockerel,

the black with no light color on the head could be a black JG pullet or a black sex link pullet,

and the yellow/varicolored chick is either a Silver Laced Wy., or a white JG pullet.

Are these fuzzy-butts able to be accurately identified as to breed/sex yet, or is it to early to be certain?

Thanks!
