they both have the most wonderful personalities hope to get a couple more hens this year if the same man goes to the swap in Nc...

Where did you get those? They are very pretty. The hens has some nice lacing and the cock apears quiet tall. How old are they?

Has anyone tried A.I. (Artificial Insemination) with their JG's yet? I'm planning on doing it sometime.

here is a picture for you this is the black rooster i keep talking about to keep or not to. so what do you think?
here is the blk pullets hatch mates to the above rooster. also the ones i keep saying im not sure on. please feel free to tell me like it is.
this folowing hen is Wynettes line and one of my favs~ i just love her coloring.She hates having her picture taken.

Soaring, I'm not keen on the black male; his topline runs uphill, if that is his normal stance (it should be exactly horizontal). Also, I could be wrong, but it appears that he has pink feet (bottoms) which would be a serious fault, if not a DQ. Also, he just doesn't have that nice, round underline that he should have. This is my personal opinion, I am no expert.

I like your first black female; she's got that nice, rounded underline and it appears her back is of sufficient length and horizontally flat. The 2nd female has more of the "U" back that we do NOT want - her back is too short.

The splash gal - I'd like to see a pic of her with her head & neck extended up, but it appears that she has a nice underline and a nice, long back. It also appears that the bottoms of her feet are yellow, but check to be sure they are not pink. Those splashses sure are gorgeous, yes? Thanks so much for posting pics!

Hi, pinkwind! I'm so glad you are enjoying your Giants; do note, however, that these would not be suitable for breeding, as their type does not match the standard of perfection. I don't mean to be a wet blanket, just wanted to mention it. The back should be horizontal and of good length; neither your male or female has the back we look for in this breed. Also, it apears the male has pink on his feet, which is a disqualification. He is also a bit slight of frame, and his tail seems to be a bit long. Underline should be nice & rounded (visualize a gravy bowl - from the base of the neck, underneath and up to the base of the tail), appearing full. They DO have nice wing carriage - I have been seeing some with wings that are held down too far, and they do have nice lacing! Again, I don't mean to be negative, they are lovely backyard birds, and I'm super happy you are enjoying them!

I'd love to see more photos of your Jersey Giants around "everyday" objects - I don't know, like pop cans or empty milk jugs? Something for scale?

I haven't ever seen Jersey Giants in person so it's hard to picture the sizes on them. They sound very neat, though!

I know I know, he has side sprigs, (a DQ) yet he injured his leg and wing learning how to roost when he was a chick (for cat treats) so he looks like a wobbling mutt. Though his mommy is beginning her show season, and got Reserve American at a open poultry show and Champion American in another fair just a few days ago, she ran with my sisters Ameracauna for Reserve Champion large, but the judge stuck his hand in her cage and she spooked and her tail went up to 90 degrees! So the Ameracauna got Reserve Champ. Large.... then you look at him, who will never be my show chicken.. His weight is huge for a cockerel! He's about 10 pounds already!

Hi, Aloha! It's funny you mention this - a few months ago, someone contacted me looking for a splash Giant cock bird. I have one that I'm not super keen on (though the longer I have him, the more he's growing on me), so I told him I "may" have one that I'd be willing to sell. He asked me to send him pictures taken with the bird standing next to a milk crate, which worked out fabulous for me, since that's what I use to put their drinkers/waterers on in the warm weather. So, I totally get what you mean - it's great to have a frame of reference so as to see the height/width of them!

Oh yes, at these past poultry shows I've gone too, people are asking me if I want to sell. But I only have 3 JG's.... used to have 7 but marek's hit and also another rooster... and all I have is 1 hen from a 4 JG flock, and 1 JG who was supposed to be a Java but started getting blue ribbons on named a JG and was a survivor out of a batch of 8 hatchery chicks, and then I have the baby of my JG's "Mr.Fluffy Puffy" who was taught by Orp's to eat and drink and dust. And is the baby of Maggie and my rooster who was sat on by another rooster Mini Mega. (and he died
