Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

I am new to this breed and enjoying learning about it... but finding good breeders are difficult!

I would breed for size then type...

Does anybody know what are the good lines and good breeders for those qualities? I will be doing B/B/S.

Thanks.

I just love our Giants!!!!
check NATIONAL JERSEY GIANT CLUB they have a list of breeders

There are several on this site that belong to the National Jersey Giant Club. There has to be a list some where because I just got a call from a guy in IL. about getting some chicks. He wanted way to many at one time for me to fill the order so I passed him on to a couple other breeders that could help him or get him to the people that could.

Shows are good place to get some good quality stock.A plus if the breeder is showing his line. You can see before you buy
I have all ways found great HELP here for finding some good quality GIANTS

Sigh. Don't check with me for anything this fall or next spring. We had a horrible heat wave this summer and even with shade, ample water, and places to settle down in the cool dirt my big-bodied Giants keeled over. I had been saving eggs to hatch, thankfully, and was able to hatch out some prospects. They're only about two months old, though, so it won't be until next fall that I set up any breeding pens. Darned Virginia summers with 85 degrees and a breeze one day and then three days' worth of 104 and 100% humidity!!!

I can tell you that Sher Jennings no longer has blues, and I believe she has passed along her whites to a few other folks as well. She's concentrating on the blacks.

I've had several folks contact me recently, and I do have hatching eggs avaiable but for a VERY limited time...I do not keep lights on my breeders, I prefer to work "with" mother nature rather than "against" her, and give my females a break from laying over the winter.

Will you be attending the APA national this weekend in Lucasville, OH? There should be a very good turnout there.

BTW, anyone else going to Lucasville? If so, let me know - I'd love to meet some BYC Giant folks in person!

SO sorry to hear this!

But I'm glad you were able to hatch some off for '13!

I had wondered if any one else had problems loosing their Giants due to the heat
