Framac, I know the disappointment. At the APA Nationals, there was only 5 or 6 Giants. Two were clearly crosses to Langshans, so you really can't count them (in fact, they were DQ for type. Eye color was light, legs too dark, no yellow on the bottoms of their feet, etc.). Vaughn did mention that Mr. Rennolet (I may be misspelling his name) was going to be bringing almost 70 birds to the nationals, but that his father suddenly took ill in a very serious way, so he didn't attend.
BEST of luck finding nice stock for sale at the Giant nationals - please say hello to my good friend Sher Jennings, she'll be there.
want brahmas - It's the UNDERSIDE of the feet that should be yellow. Even in purebred, quality breedings, you sometimes do not see the yellow underside of the feet and these birds should be culled. It may be a bit early yet to see the yellow under the feet. To be honest, I don't go and check week by week for the yellow. I breed a lot, and so I grow them out, and when they are old enough for my first go-through of culling, which is typically 18 weeks, THAT is when I check for the yellow. Yes, the blues will have it as well.
