Oh, my sweet JG Coco has fatty liver disease. The vet has given me something to give to her and hopefully we can manage this. I feel awful because I caused this. She eats like a goat and always seems so hungry so I used to toss out a handful of sunflower seeds for her and my other hens every day. And I know my JG got more than her fair share. She's big, she's bossy and she's the Alpha.

Be careful and don't over feed your JG's too many treats.

My JG hen is going through a HARD molt.... and a couple weeks ago (while still in the molt) she laid an egg. Just 1. Her butt fluff was missing, tail feathers gone, and as she walked feathers would drift right off of her. Now it's coming back in--phew, It seemed as if it would never end!

My JG's are almost 7 months old and are still huge pin feather cushions! I am excited to see them all filled out!

TheSpiceGirls, I would not feel too bad about the fatty liver deal. That is very very common among pet birds of all types. A caged/cooped lifestyle, all the food you can eat, no need to forage, it all leads to birdy obesity.

I have a JG that has always had watery poop ever since I got her, I feed flock feeder and she has been wormed, treated for cocci and is otherwise very healthy. Then hen I got her with(they were both chicks when I got them) died about 3 weeks ago and didn't seem sick at all but was a bit puffed up the night before which I attributed to the cold weather. Have also given some rooster booster, any ideas???

I would most definitely give her some yogurt; when they are on antibiotics, they kill all the GOOD as well as the bad bacteria in their gut. The yogurt (or other probiotics) will put it back in. It very well could be that her digestive system is just a bit unbalanced.

Agreed!

Folk, it seems to have been an extremely difficult year for molting for many folks!
