Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Awesome, Framac - will be great to watch them growing out!

I snapped a super quick pic of one of my black Cockerels yesterday - he's not squared up to the camera so you can't see his nice topline, but he's going to mature nicely, I believe; I'm pretty excited about this male:

Any one else w/ Jersey's notice that their nostrils get plugged up? I just noticed that mine has some kind of crud in her nostrils. I was able to soften it a bit with warm water on a Qtip but she didn't like me messing with her nose so I'll have to try again later.

I did a quick search on this and saw that some others said that their JG's had this and I'm wondering if JG's are more prone to getting their nostrils blocked up?

I just got 15 JG eggs in the mail from a guy on ebay that are supposed to be from his show birds, he says "Many of these birds were shown in the NC State fair this past year and every bird entered place third or better." so im excited to see how they come out.

I had 2 with small fractures on arrival but I am trying to see if I can save them with wax on one(it had a bit bigger crack) and super glue on the other (it had just a little line). a friend is going to incubate them for me in his cabinet bator and he has amazingly high hatch rates. but he hasn't yet shared his methods with me

, just the shared use of his bator

. they are being set in the morning, after they have had a chance to settle over night.
I will post pics once they hatch.
im praying they are everything the guy said they are

well my town says I can't have a rooster. and i was unable to cancel the one i ordered, i have a friend who will take him off my hands. but i'm so bummed. she lives close by and i will probably keep him around until someone complains, i am hoping he will be a nice quiet guy and nobody notices him!

Well, I took her to the vet who flushed it out w/ warm water. Said it really looked like compacted feed. I feed crumbles and she eats it like there is no tomorrow. I think that over time the dust became impacted into her nostrils. I'll have to watch that and try and keep it clear on my own.

She seems so much happier today.

That might be the best thing, i do fermented for my birds, more of evening suppliment- it isn't hard to make, just use a 5 gal bucket and mix feed, scratch and enough water w/acv to make a batter consistency, after a few days it will smell like sourdough and the birds love it, less waste too...
