I think the reason it drowned was the waterer was pushed into the corner by my husband. I think there were too many in one area and that one was caught and unable to get away. Almost like one of the others pinned him. I pulled the waterer out to the center and no more issues

I had the same thing happen just a month or so ago... broke my heart. It had marbles in it, there wasn't THAT much water to drown the poor baby.... It had to have happened when they were all (41 of them) were around it and pushed him down and pinned him in there....

Sry that posted twice. I have had that happen before to my babies as well. the more chicks in there the likely hood of something happening . I've had them trample one to death. Nonetheless it is still heartbreaking

There are about 50 babies in a 4 ft by 3 ft brooder. 10 of them will be moved to the 8 ft by 4 ft brooder in the garage this weekend. 2 weeks after that we will be moving 15 out to the garage brooder and the 10 in there out to the yard. the remaining 25 will go out to the garage brooder two weeks after that and the 15 that were in there will be in the yard.

Now to figure what to do with the Silkie that is depressed and missing my DH.

Hey, Giant folks - it's been some time since I have posted, very sorry about that! It's been an extremely busy summer, and it looks like things will continue to be fast-paced around the farm for a good while yet.

I have a small batch of juvenile Giants growing out from Shawna Smith (Jennings line) that I am extremely pleased with; I also have some very young ones from my own line that looking fine. I'm really excited about two prospects I have in Blue from Shawna, and may show them this fall at a local show in October - just depends how they're looking in another month or so.

I'll get some pictures to share very soon!

Any other folks have nice-looking birds growing out? If so, please share pictures!
