I think the reason it drowned was the waterer was pushed into the corner by my husband. I think there were too many in one area and that one was caught and unable to get away. Almost like one of the others pinned him. I pulled the waterer out to the center and no more issues

I had the same thing happen just a month or so ago... broke my heart. It had marbles in it, there wasn't THAT much water to drown the poor baby.... It had to have happened when they were all (41 of them) were around it and pushed him down and pinned him in there....![]()

Sry that posted twice. I have had that happen before to my babies as well. the more chicks in there the likely hood of something happening . I've had them trample one to death. Nonetheless it is still heartbreaking

There are about 50 babies in a 4 ft by 3 ft brooder. 10 of them will be moved to the 8 ft by 4 ft brooder in the garage this weekend. 2 weeks after that we will be moving 15 out to the garage brooder and the 10 in there out to the yard. the remaining 25 will go out to the garage brooder two weeks after that and the 15 that were in there will be in the yard.
Now to figure what to do with the Silkie that is depressed and missing my DH.

The silkie passed. DH came home and I told him to stay away from the Silkies. The others are all doing well. They tend to hide from the larger birds.
