There's not a magic number, it really does depend on the male, but a good starting point is 5 females to 1 male.I was curious, about, how many hens per one rooster would you put in a breeding pen to get good fertility rate??

Thanks for the reply. I am going to try to set up some breeding pens soon, and was wondering this. I will keep this number in mind, as I plan to have about a dozen birds in each pen, guess I can do 10 hens and 2 roos. Thanks again for the quick reply. There's not a magic number, it really does depend on the male, but a good starting point is 5 females to 1 male.
Not that I know of.OK, I now have another question for the experts. Is there anyway to tell the age, accurately, of my Jersey Giant rooster??
OK, thanks again for the quick reply. I was curious, my rooster has little nubs for spurs, and I was curious as to how big he should be by now. I appreciate your help in these areas. I am new to Giants, but really like them, and go a little overboard with try to gain knowledge in areas I am fond of.Not that I know of.
