Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

NC, I load mine onto photobucket - I find it easier to work with them there, and then just copy/paste the URL from there to here. Hurry up & figure it out so we can see what you have!

Here are my three giants. They're almost 13 weeks old and I constantly confuse my black one with my full grown Australorp! I got them from a local breeder but I ordered a White Giant from MMH and I'm curious to see the size difference.

Big Daddy is in front, Louis is in the tire and Amalthea is in the back. That tire is about three feet tall. It's supposed to be for potatoes but we'll see how that goes.

Sorry about the bad pictures. They never cooperate when you want them to! The one to the far left is my Australorp. The brown bird is my 17 week old Brown Leghorn.
I'm still amazed at how large and incredibly sweet my "little" trio are. ^.^

If I get a hovabator I might hatch some blue giants, but probably would only keep one girl... How are they as for being friendly?

Kathy, you really need to edit the main page. You are no longer "new to poultry"!

I need help. I ordered:
1 Cochin cockerel
2 Jersey Black Giants pullets
3 Rhode Island White pullets
4 Cuckoo Marans pullets
5 EE pullets

They came from Ideal. Today they are 8 days old. They all are/were easily identifiable. Until 2 days ago the 2 that were a charcoal grey that I THOUGHT were my black giants began to sprout all white wing feathers. They happen to be the smallest birds to date. These are my first chickens. What comments might you add here? This is one of them this morning.

Nick, mine are very friendly! I just adore my Giants!

How's your chicks doing Wynette??? Are you keeping those or selling them?

Not sure which chicks...last hatch was Black Copper Marans and one lone little Jersey Giant X Isa Brown. They are 6 weeks old today.

Oh, yeppers! They took over a mini donkey stall I have. I was pretty worried about them last night, as it was single digits...but they did just fine. I have a cardboard box frame (cut the bottom & top off the box) with a heat lamp over...they all cuddle under the lamp inside the cardboard box area, and come out to eat & drink, play a bit, then right back under the heat lamp to warm up. Have to say, I'm SO glad they are out of the house! The dust/dander they make is SO annoying! Every winter I say I'm not going to hatch in ther winter.....someone please hit me over the head if I say it again this coming winter!
