Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Good morning, Soaring!

No, the only thing I've ever crossed my Jerseys on is some Isa Brown hens (production reds). The offspring is just gorgeous, most are quite a bit larger than their mommas and they lay fantastically well. Only reason I've done this is so that my "back-up" boy has something to do - HA!

Good morning.
If the older ones are still in with the jg's this spring I may hatch a few eggs just to see.
How much longer do I have to wait for the jg's to start laying?
April & may hatches . I have to admit that I am starting to "chop at the bit" waiting to get my first jg egg.

I know they will lay when ready but just need a start time to look for.

They will probably wait until spring, is my guess. I had only a couple of mine begin laying before the days began to get shorter; the rest I'm sure will not be laying until spring. Let them mature....the longer they wait to lay, the less lay issues you'll have in the long run. I understand what you mean, though! It's always exciting when you get those first few eggs!

Its a giant it happens every once in a while but we got 4 like it this time!! last time I gave it away to a friend & it turned into a huge beautiful black roo!!

I know wouldnt it be they are 2 weeks old now will shoot a couple pics and watch their progress!! That blue roo is huge you just cant tell from the pic he is camera shy a pain to get any good shot. We have about 6 really nice girls coming up got rid of the high tails, & have some really nice lacing on a couple dark blues. Your birds are looking good. how much fore some turkey eggs for hatching?

Im not sure they are only 6 months old right. I cant wait till they start to lay. I'm sure we can work something out when they do start to lay and breed.

Thanks im happy with my birds.
