Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Soaring, I think that boy is Porto X Hall, and you're right; I didn't keep any of them, with the exception of the male that would be this boy's father. This is a BAD picture, but here he is. He was about 7 months in this picture. I decided to keep him, as there was just something about him that I really liked. Now, he's about 2 1/2, I think, and I'm so glad I kept him! He's got very good type, and, when viewed from the top, he's got that nice, blocky body shape that good Giants should have. Straight back on the sides, not a "V" when you view them looking directly down. My newer line is amazing, but this cock bird really does have nice lines - see how his underline is nice & full, how he looks round from the base of his neck down and to the base of his tail?

I ordered a new digital camera, so should be able to get more/updated pictures next week!

Soaring, I like your male - he's nice! I can see he's in top condition, too! Great job!

YellowChicken - welcome to the Giant thread! Look forward to hearing more from you.

Zoo - yes, you have a male and a female there.

Thanks Wynette!
he was the same way. if you recall when he was a chick I kept saying hes the one,but I did take the time to grow all of them out and did not sell unless they started fighting really bad. he is a really sweet boy. the hens are really happy to just have one rooster to deal with.
I got the eggs today! thanks so much will keep you updated

Thanks Wynette! Very nice JG you have also! What kind of roo is that behind him, red star Or?
Full grown LF? If so your JG roo is one big bird! Any idea of his weight and height?
Thanks

Hey there, Yellow! The red chicken to the cock bird's right is a production red (yes, full grown LF, female). The male is most definitely a very large boy; I am unsure what his weight or height is, but I can tell you his shanks are thicker around than my husband's thumb, and he's not a small man. I'll have to get some weights on my Giants soon. Thanks for that reminder! I'm REALLY hoping that my new digital camera memory card arrives today or tomorrow so I can get some better pictures this weekend. The camera isn't anything special, but it should be much better quality than my cell phone pictures!

Well, if he's only 7 mo. there, its hard to imagine how big he must be now at 2-1/2. Way over 13 pounds I bet. He does look a lot like SCs blue roo typewise. Is his size typical for the SQ JGs? It would be fun to have some of these giants walking around the acreage, probably wouldn't have to worry too much about predators :)

Yes, his size would be typical of exhibition Giants. They are most definitely fun to watch walking around! The females amaze me even moreso than the males, though. They are all huge (at least the ones I have now!!), but the FEMALES are scary big! I have some good sized Marans, my male is quite large, though not nearly as large as a good Giant male; but the female Giants I have are probably double the size of my largest Marans females.

Are these hens your new line? When do you think you may have their eggs available?
