One thing I have found with Jersey eggs in regards to hatching in the incubator (and I even read this, so it's true): The eggs are so large, that it actually takes an extra day, sometimes two, for the chick to finish developing. It's so large, it needs the extra time to fully absorb the yolk sac.

This is good to know since our white's egg size is very small. Since they mature later, hopefully they'll lay eggs longer.

Mine are probably older meat birds. If you compare pictures, the eyes are much brighter and more alert on the wjg. Hopefully, I have some good eats coming.

My giants did not lay impressively large eggs their first year but this second year is a noticeable difference. I think you just need to be patient. I have the same situation with my cuckoo marans, BIG, BIG pullets but rather small eggs for their size. I expect they too will improve over time.

WoW! Those are some nice looking WJG...I think I will have to get a couple of those & blacks too. I can be patient for the eggs, I get enough from the ISA browns.

I'm seriously thinking about saving some of my birds............just to see how big they get!

For meat birds ( if they're meat birds..which I think they are ) they're impressive.

You are so bad

From one extreme (Silkies) to to the other (JG's) lol I have 5 Silkies chicks right now under lights yet.

You gotta sample a lot of different breeds! At least that is what I want to do

Oh boy! I don't know where I am going to put them all! haha More cage building!
